IN line with our and market expectations, the US Federal Reserve (Fed) raised its funds target range by 75 basis points (bps) by a unanimous vote, making it a cumulative 225 bps hike in 2022 in its effort to aggressively tame the stubborn inflation.
The target range for the federal funds rate is currently at 2.25%-2.50%. For perspective, US June inflation reached 9.1% year-on-year (y-o-y), faster than the 8.6% in May and the fastest pace since April 1980.
